V.I.B.E. Newsletters
Despite several appeals for someone to step forward to resurrect the Newsletter, no-one has done so. Whilst this website is the main method of keeping members and others informed, we recognise that not everyone has internet access and David Stott (National Development Officer) has now offered to take on editorship of a twice-yearly Newsletter to be published in April and October.
The Newsletter will be sent to members electronically (for those with known email addresses), will be available to download and print from this website (Documents and Resources page) and there will be an audio file, again downloadable from the website.
For members without internet access, printed copies or an audio file on CD can be sent by post - BUT WE NEED TO KNOW WHO WANTS THIS!
Please contact David Stott if you would like either a paper copy or CD version.  Mob: 07769 568680

V.I.B.E. and Disability Bowls England (D.B.E.)               work together to support bowls for the visually impaired and to promote bowls for the whole disabled community.
VIBE Committee members - along with the (then) Team Manager (and now National Development Officer) - have been working together with officers of DBE and have agreed two documents in order to foster closer working relationships and to ensure that both organisations speak 'with one voice' to support bowlers with a visual impairment.
The first was a 'Memorandum of Understanding' between the two organisations. This can be viewed and downloaded here.
The second is a proposal, which is currently with both Bowls England and the English Indoor Bowling Association Ltd. for their consideration and (hopefully) adoption, which seeks to clarify what additional support players with a visual impairment can use in 'otherwise sighted' games (i.e games with and against sighted colleagues). This has come about as result of several complaints that the World Bowls Crystal Mark 4th Edition 'Laws of the Sport' simply refers to aids being allowed which are recognised by the National Governing Body. Since Bowls England nor EIBA have published guidance on this, we thought it high time that they did - in order to reduce the number of incidences where VI players are questioned about what they can and can't do. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DOCUMENT REFERS ONLY TO VI PLAYERS PLAYING IN 'OTHERWISE SIGHTED' GAMES AND VIBE / IBBA RULES STILL APPLY IN ALL-VI COMPETITIONS AND MATCHES.
